Flintshire Junior League Football Returns!

Dom Auty6 Sep 2023 - 17:30

The Flintshire Junior League is back this weekend...

The Flintshire Junior League is back this weekend, which will see the return of competitive football for the U13, U14 & U16 on Saturday along with our U9 girls, kicking off their campaign in the NEWFA Girls League.

Here’s what U9 girls (& U12 boys) manager, Danny Roberts, had to say ahead of the league return…

Hawarden U9 Girls had a fantastic season last year, with tournament wins at Brymbo U9 and Bury, several finals across the summer tournaments and a squad with many talented footballers.

The girls have watched the Lionesses continuously raise the bar for Girls Football and are looking to follow in their footsteps whilst enjoying the game. After several trials the squad have 7 players at Connah’s Quay Nomads U10’s, 2 at Wrexham U10’s & at Flintshire U11’s and one at Wales U12’s all whilst starting their football journey a couple seasons ago and will be competing in the Flintshire U9 girls league.

We have a very talented group who have continued to play throughout the summer for their love of the game. We all can’t wait to start the season and watch these dedicated girls grow with the game.

A selection of Saturdays fixtures:
U13 – Buckley Town (H)
Gladstone – 10:00

U14 – Aston Park (A)
33 Pitch – 10:00

U16 – Buckley Town (A)
Leeswood Pitches – 09:45

It’ll be an action-packed Sunday, too, with the return of U7,U9,U10,U11,U12 and the U19 Development Team.

The Development side face a tough first fixture as they travel to last seasons runners up, Brickfield Rangers, who ran them to the wire in the league campaign last season. Just 3 points separated the top two sides, with Hawarden being crowned champions on the final day of the season.

We caught up with Harry Evans, former Development Team player turned coach, on his views ahead of the weekend’s opener…

It’s a tough opening fixture, but to be fair the lads will know what to expect, so it’ll be a good game. They’re all buzzing and ready to get going!

The Development side’s trip to Brickfield will be hosted at Clywedog Park, kick off 13:30.
In the senior section, the Reserves travel to Anglesey to face Llangefni Town Res at Cae Bob Parry, kick off 14:30 whilst the First Team host CPD Y Felinheli in the Lock Stock Ardal North league Cup, kick off 14:30.

Don’t forget to take a look at our sponsorship opportunities for the 2023/24 season which includes an option for a Season Ticket for senior home games, including all cup games!

It’s a huge effort from all involved, not limited to the players, parents/carers/guardians/family members, supporters, coaches, committee members, sponsors; we don’t take anyone’s efforts for granted and look forward to another enjoyable season for all involved with the club.

We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces over the course of the weekend!
