We caught up with first team manager Andy Butler ahead of season opener this Saturday in the JD Welsh Cup trip to Caerwys, here’s what he had to say…

on pre season…
The lads have put in some good graft over the past 6 weeks or so. We’ve had some really good tests in terms of the pre season fixtures and we’re really looking forward to seeing the squad develop and progress as the season gets underway.

on the new arrivals on and off the pitch…
It was vital we added to the management group with the experienced arrivals of Steve Wright (First Team Assistant Manager), Eddie Barry (Reserve Manager) and Clive Davies (u19’s Manager) ensuring we have not only great stability but experience in the senior section. These have been great additions working alongside Dom Auty (First Team Head Coach) and Gareth Hughes (Reserve Team Coach)
As regards to signing; I have been really impressed with the additional quality the new boys have added and that increasing the level of competition in the senior section. Part of the pre season planning was bringing in the right characters and players who want to be part of this journey for the right reasons, which we have managed to secure.

on expectations for the coming season…
Having stepped up into Tier 3, we’re relishing the challenge and the journey that the club is now undertaking.
Having worked tirelessly on and off the field we feel we are in a great position having built the club on our core values with a large number of local lads, it means we have exactly the right balance and ability to perform over the coming season.

on Saturday’s trip to Caerwys…
I’m really looking forward to Saturday’s trip, we know it’ll be a tough test but we can’t wait to see the lads together for the first time competitively. It’s always nice to have a good cup run, which is something I’ve been lucky enough to experience during my time at the club, and we’d like another one this year too.
It really is a new chapter for the first team and the journey begins on Saturday; I can’t wait to get going!
