This was a game that the boys needed, we knew it was going to be tough after playing Broughton last year and knowing that they are a good strong team.

Having re-shuffled the defence, adding James to the heart of the defence has proved to be a positive move, with Lewis in goal, Mike Reid, Tom Palmer and Mike Smith, this was a strong defence.

Joe again was in the centre supported really well by the ever determined Mat. Our wide players, Charlie & Jacob gave us the option of speed and creativity.

Game started well, we had possession of the ball and started to play the football we knew the boys were capable of. Broughton continued to also cause a threat and this resulted in them scoring an excellent goal, a shot some 20 yards from goal, rising as it went in gave Lewis no chance.

Undeterred by the goal the lads continued to play the football we want, within minutes up stepped Joe to fire home again another terrific long range shot, Great goal. 1-1.

As the first half came towards the end, Jack & Finn continued to cause a threat and the defence stood firm. Then, great ball out of defence which was latched onto by Jack, bang second goal. 1-2. Half Time.

Second half was very much like the first, good football being played by both and defences keeping the chances to a minimum. Broughton pushed on and were awarded a goal for there possession. The boys heads could have gone down but no they continued to be committed, then a long ball out of defence finds Alex in the opposition half, being direct Alex went at the defence, bang one shot at goal, saved, Alex did'nt give up, gets the ball again, defenders all around him, but Alex finds a way to reach the ball, compose himself, then bang goal. 2-3. The remaining 10 mins was tough as Broughton tried to get the goal back, Mike at the back making last ditch tackles, James reading the game constantly, clearing up any chances and Tom & Mike continually putting there bodies on the line. Final whistle, great win. Well done boys, keep it up.
